Listen up soul brothers and soul sisters, this is a 3-way that you do not want to miss. On the 17th of April The Electric Ballroom will be hosting Funk and Soul Club Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel Special.
The Reflex has snapped up plenty of fans on his soul train, with his great reworks of classic tunes being favoured by Nile Rodgers, Kid Creole and Jazzy Jeff. Watch out for some soulful disco vibes.
DJs Cheeba, Moneyshot and Food will be performing their three-way collaboration ‘Caught in the Middle of A 3-Way Mix’. In a tribute to the classic Beastie Boys album ‘Paul’s Boutique’, this seminal work has been reinvented and remixed using the original sample sources. This is the last time the work will be performed and the boys have thrown in some commentary from the Beasties, vintage interviews and much more. Don’t miss out; it’ll be cooler than cucumber and slicker than grease.
The Allergies have recently been snapped up by Jalapeno Records. With classics such as ‘Heartbreaker’ and ‘As We Do Our Thing’ receiving thumbs up from Mixmag and BBC’s Craig Charles, the duo will be shaping the dance floor with their vintage sounds with a modern twist.
Mixmaster Morris first met Coldcut in 1985 and has been heavily involved in Ninja Tune over the last 25 years, recording many Solid Steel mixes, and the much loved ‘It’s Tomorrow Already’ album for them in 1998. He will be spinning some of his favourite Ninja Tune cuts spanning over the last three decades along with an extra helping of Funk & Soul in what can only be described as Mixmaster Morris’s uniquely innovative style.
