Cut Chemist first became known as a founding member of both the rap group Jurassic 5 and the Grammy award winning Latin funk outfit, Ozomatli. Keeping his involvement with both groups in tandem with one another, Cut Chemist has developed a taste for music and rhythms from around the world while keeping his ethic for the hip hop tradition. Cut Chemist also found time to collaborate with DJ Shadow on what would be one of the worlds most sought after mix cd’s, “Brainfreeze”, soon to be followed by its sequel, “Product Placement.“

DJ Format dreleased his debut album “Music for the Mature B-Boy” in 2003. An album of soulful, funk-fuelled Hip Hop packed with infectious beats and lyrical dexterity, it delivered the promise of his early releases for ‘Mo Wax. The album featured the hit single “We know something you don’t know” featuring Chali 2na and Akil from Jurassic 5. 2205’s follow up album “If you can’t Join ’em…Beat ’em” saw DJ Format step up a gear, tightening the loops for a tougher sound. DJ Format has also released mix CD’s for Fabric and Fania Records. His 2008 project The Simon Sound explored pioneering electronic music of the 1950’s and vintage Moog sounds. His most recent album “Statement of Intent” featured Edan, Mr. Lif & Phill Most Chill.
