Screenings of an 85-minute feature doc exploring the unique phenomenon and musical legacy of the Irish showbands, fronted by U2 bassist Adam Clayton.
In 2026, Ballroom Boom has been updated with Adam delving deeper into how U2 and other Irish artists benefitted from the musical roots planted by the more progressive showband musicians, managers and promoters with a wide range of guests including archive of Dickie Rock and Brendan Bowyer plus interviews with Paul Brady, Phil Coulter, Linda Martin, Ronan Collins, Eileen Reid, The Saw Doctors, Barry Devlin, Jim Lockhard, Bob Geldof, The Mary Wallopers and many more. Ballroom Boom is produced and directed by Billy McGrath, who previously has helmed screened screen projects with U2, The Boomtown Rats, Clannad, David Bowie, The Pogues and the World Cup Irish soccer team of Italia ’90.
All profits go to icap a registered charity providing specialized, culturally sensitive counseling for the Irish community in Britain.
