Quickly making a name for themselves on the live scene with their frenzied, adrenaline-charged performances YONAKA became a staple billing on 2017’s UK festival circuit with appearances at Reading & Leeds, Download, Bestival, Dot to Dot, The Great Escape + many more. Selling-out London’s Borderline last year and having recently played their biggest home show supporting The Libertines at the 4,000 capacity Brighton Centre, YONAKA are set for very big things in 2018 and will play their biggest London headline show to date at The Garage on Feb 28 which they sold out two weeks in advance.
Formed after meeting at university, YONAKA released their debut EP ‘Heavy’ in October to mass critical acclaim. Lead single ‘Bubblegum’ landed specialist radio support from the likes of Daniel P Carter, Hugh Stevens, MistaJam and Phil Taggart at Radio 1 as well as a multitude of editorial support ensuring that they were the third most tipped artist for 2018 in the end of year lists. The quartet worked with Mercury Prize-winning producer Rodaidh Mcdonald (King Krule, Sampha, The xx) on their five-track EP, showcasing the band’s diverse musical spectrum, something for which has seen them tipped as rock’s new frontrunners.
